How do I contact you if I’m interested in selling my collection?

I am interested in selling some postcards, what type of cards do you buy?

The short answer is we buy just about any old postcards. We are primarily interested in postcards that were printed prior to the year 1930. Categories we’re interested in include: US views, foreign views, holidays, greetings, military, topical cards, transportation related, and real photo cards.

How do I tell if my postcards are old or printed prior to 1930?

If postally used, the easiest way to get an idea of the when the card was printed is by taking a look at the postmark date it was sent. Alternatively, a copyright date may be printed somewhere on the card. If still not sure, the bulks of the cards sold on this site are pre-1930, they can be used as a reference in establishing the age of your cards.

What type of postcards do you not buy?

We don’t typically buy cards that are newer than 1930. The easiest way to identify if your cards are newer than 1930 is by the postmark (if postally used). Alternatively, a copyright date may be printed somewhere on the card. Cards newer than 1930 will usually have a linen woven-like finish or a chrome finish (usually printed on glossy paper).

What quantities of postcards can I sell?

We typically buy in bulk. On the low end, we’ll take a look at collections with greater than 100 postcards. For high quantities, no collection is too big for us to take a look at, even if it’s tens of thousands of cards.

I am not interested in selling my postcard collection, but would like to get it appraised. Do you help with appraisals?

We offer basic appraisals free of charge. For detailed appraisals, please contact us for additional details.

How much do you pay for postcards? Is it different than the appraisal price?

The rate we pay for postcards will vary based on the types and rarity of the cards. We strive to pay top dollar and will provide you with an estimate once details of your collection have been established. Note, the amount we pay will differ significantly in comparison to an appraisal price which represents retail value.

How do I contact you if I’m interested in selling my collection?

The best way is just to send us a note by emailing postcards@stormywiz.com. With your inquiry, please include the following details: collection description, age, quantity, and condition.
